Arabian days

Dear Someone,

This week has been great. It has been filled with homework and studying for tests. It is so sad when I have to stay in the center for a whole day just to study. I do love my classes though but when I know this is outside it is hard to be disciplined:
I finally made it to the Dome of Rock. Wow it was amazing! I decided to match the Dome that day. They have extremely weird hours because they always closed for the call to prayer and such. You have to be completely modest to go inside the courtyard and they won't let you inside the Dome anymore. They even made me throw away my sandwich before going in but using the explanation of it not being kosher doesn't seem to fit....

Me and Pamella at the Dome. Such a good day!

Me and Juan Pinto

"Oh I come from a land, from a far away place
Where the caravan camels roam
Where it's flat and immense
And the heat is intense
It's barbaric, but hey, it's home"

My friends in our Arab garb: Brooke, Angela, Me, Heather and Pam.

"When the wind's from the east
And the sun's from the wast
And the sand in the glass is right
Come on down
Stop on by
Hop a carpet and fly
To another Arabian night"

Our delicious authentic dinner! Lots of rice and hummus.

"Arabian nights
Like Arabian days
More often than not
Are hotter than hot
In a lot of good ways"

Such happiness in the Holy Land.

"Arabian nights
'Neath Arabian moons
A fool off his guard
Could fall and fall hard
Out there on the dunes"

Love you all!
Love,
Mary

  1. I know what you mean, it always makes me nervous to know someone is reading my blog, but please remember everything and anything you write is interesting to us.

Katy and I were trying to figure out how your hair can look so amazing in every photo. We are deep thinkers that way. ;)

  2. Ha. The thing about my pictures, as I am sure you can relate, is that I get to choose what is seen and what is not seen. My friends blogs on the other hand probably show different sides of me than I choose not to display. My hair is far from perfect. Israel has made it a different texture and I can't figure out why! It is actually much easier to curl it because then it can just be messy and I don't care. Thank you for your kind comments though. No deep thinking needed.
